Penny returns from a visiting family in Nebraska with a cold causing Sheldon to freak out because he's a bit of a germaphone. When Penny is given a part in Rent, the boys try to avoid to see her show after hearing her sing 'Out Tonight' out of key in order to not hurt her feelings. After cleaning up after an internet experiment, Leonard discovers a letter in the trash can inviting the roommates to present some research they've done to a physics conference.
Raj is scared when his parents arrange a blind date for him with a girl from his childhood as he's still unable to women. Penny takes up bar tending to make some extra money. The pair ends up taking over Penny's apartment, forcing her to sleep on Leonard and Sheldon's couch. The guys are invited to Penny's Halloween party and decide to go only when the idea of costumes are mentioned. At the party, Wolowitz and Leonard attempt to socialize until Penny's ex, Kurt, shows up and humiliates Leonard.
While eating at the Cheesecake Factory where Penny works, the guys run into Leslie Winkle, the girl who previously rejected Leonard. Leslie asks Leonard to play in her string quartet as the cellist, but what she really wants is him. Sheldon is fired from his job at Caltech when he insults his boss Dr. Eric Gablehauser. Unemployed, Sheldon quickly spirals into depressions which Leonard tries to end by bringing over Sheldon's mother.
When Leonard witnesses Penny kissing a guy in front of their apartment, he is hurt and feels 'rejected. When Sheldon and Leonard head over to Penny's apartment to drop off a package that arrived for her, Sheldon is bothered by how messy her apartment is.
Bernadette forgives her since she intends to undermine her boss having a lawsuit if she's taken off the job. Sheldon, Leonard, and Howard are drained from trying to satisfy the Air Force's deadline. In a fantasy, The Flash persuades Sheldon to have a power drink.
When it wears away, Sheldon is sure he's addicted, further annoying the other two. Sheldon breaks down and admits he can't work out the mathematics and is not as clever as he believed. Facing Colonel Williams, they acknowledge they require at least 2 decades, which can be readily accepted as the army is used to contractors not meeting deadlines.
Amy requires Penny to a party thrown by Bert that the geologist, but they find they're the only ones there. Raj tries to assist Bernadette get the nursery ready, but she does not like it. Raj predicts his OB-GYN dad, who tells Bernadette that, while she might not like infants generally, she may still love her kid. Following a plumbing issue produces Amy's apartment uninhabitable for five weeks, Leonard and Penny indicate Amy move to Leonard and Sheldon's apartment.
Later Amy suggests their cohabitation within an experimentation, Sheldon consented to move her to Penny's apartment, arousing Leonard and Penny. The morning after they struggle over scientific ethics, working themselves until Amy indicates they go to get Penny's apartment to figure out.
Following an ultrasound, Howard and Bernadette are mad that Raj understands the sex of the baby once they had elected to not learn. Amy and Sheldon storm to Leonard and Penny's apartment contending about Sheldon demanding a toilet program. To aid him cool off, Penny requires Sheldon to a ice cream parlor, where he attempts to search for a distinct romantic companion. Sheldon confesses he once walked on his dad with another girl, which explains why he constantly takes three times when entering a space today, and it also makes him fear he'll hurt Amy one afternoon.
Penny convinces him to provide the relationship a opportunity. Returning, Sheldon agrees to undermine, so that he can away with the restroom program and agrees to share a toothbrush holder, a large step for Sheldon.
This season is started broadcasting in and it consists of 24 episodes. Leonard is able to convince her to make the appearance despite her hesitation, which is largely due to the small and insignificant nature of the event in the global scheme of Comic-Cons. Penny isn't sure if the admiration she receives at the event is the type of admiration she really wants, while her sidekick Leonard seems to be enjoying the event more than her as he seems to have his own surprised admirers.
